BNP Paribas acquires HSBC’s custody and depositary bank business in Germany

BNP Paribas has agreed to acquire HSBC’s custody and depositary bank business in Germany to expand its Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Services activity.
Through this acquisition, the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Services business will build out its client franchise through the expansion of its products and services for insurance companies in Germany.
The agreement aims to provide a seamless transfer of services currently provided by HSBC Continental Europe Germany to BNP Paribas’ Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Services business in Germany.
Patrick Colle, head of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Services and chairman of financial institutions coverage at BNP Paribas, comments: “As we continue to strengthen our global-local, integrated bank model at the service of our institutional client franchise, this transaction underpins our strategic goal to expand our presence and capabilities in targeted markets, both in Europe and globally.â€
Lutz Diederichs, CEO of BNP Paribas Germany, adds: “Our clients benefit from our broad range of services across twelve different business lines, which is unique in the German market, and ranges from Global Markets, via Global Banking, to Wealth Management.â€
